Legislative
As the first construction industry trade association with a full-time office on Capitol Hill, SMACNA’s legislative office plays an active role in shaping legislation affecting the sheet metal industry. The legislative staff works with Congressional committees drafting legislation and prepares SMACNA members to testify at Congressional hearings. SMACNA leads the way on Capitol Hill in the national Campaign for Quality Construction supporting responsible and fair contracting, skilled workforce development and market incentives that promote federal policy initiatives which ensure high standards of integrity, performance and quality driven construction. Legislative initiatives include indoor air quality and energy efficiency incentives as part of a responsible national energy policy.
