In 1984, SMACNA purchased a Capitol Hill row house just two blocks from the U.S. Senate after operating several years on the House side of the Hill. SMACNA was the first construction industry trade association with a full-time office on Capitol Hill. The prime location at 305 4th Street, NE allows SMACNA to play an active role in shaping legislation affecting the industry. The legislative staff works with Congressional committees drafting legislation and helps prepare SMACNA members to testify at Congressional hearings.
