What to Pack
In October, temperatures begin moderating a little from summer’s high heat. Trade winds also begin to fade from the island weather scene. Occasionally, one of the early winter storms will send a weak cold front through the island which can cause a few showers. Typically though, October is still mild and dry. Sea water temperatures average about 79 degrees. The average daytime temperature is 88 degrees with a low of 69 degrees.
All convention social activities and sessions will require casual attire. Comfortable shoes are important for all of the sightseeing and lawn social activities; e.g., the meet and greet reception and the dinner and show will be held outdoors, weather permitting.
A light jacket or sweater is advisable for evenings and the occasional rain shower. The only need for warmer clothing is if your plans include hiking in the Haleakala Crater. While it may start out warm and sunny, the weather can change very quickly in the upcountry. Sunscreen is essential!
