SMACNA is partnering with SMART to better train our chapters and contractors on how to strategically respond to Davis-Bacon wage determination surveys in their area.  This presentation will introduce chapter executives to the new project and explain what resources will be available to the chapter and contractors when a survey is announced in their area. It will highlight the strategical decision they will need to make with their local union in order have the best possible success in the survey process. The session will explore best practices chapters can use when rolling out and responding to a survey.

Presentation: A Chapter’s Role in Well-Run Benefit Funds

This session will encompass the role a chapter can play in ensuring its local benefit funds are well run.  Engaged and well-educated management trustees can make a difference to controlling fringe benefit fund costs as well as lower the potential liability exposure the chapter might have for fiduciary errors at the funds. This interactive session will share best practices for chapters to take in overseeing benefit fund trustees, encouraging appropriate trustee training, and ensuring trustee engagement.
