Pennsylvania State Rep. Brian Munroe Visits SMCA of Philadelphia Member Prime Sheet Metal

Members highlighted the essential role SMCA contractors play in creating family-sustaining jobs, providing strong benefits, and supporting local communities.

SMCA of Philadelphia recently welcomed Pennsylvania State Rep. Brian Munroe, who toured member company Prime Sheet Metal and met with contractors to discuss the industry’s impact on the regional economy.

During the visit, members highlighted the essential role SMCA contractors play in creating family-sustaining jobs, providing strong benefits, and supporting local communities. The conversation also focused on the importance of Responsible Contractor Ordinances at the local level, particularly for public projects such as school district construction, where strong standards help protect quality, accountability, and fair competition.

The Prime Sheet Metal team led Rep. Munroe on a tour of the company’s office and shop, where he observed a demonstration of ductwork being cut and bent. Team members also explained what makes sheet metal work unique: ours is the only trade that takes raw materials and performs the design, fabrication, and installation in-house.

The visit was a valuable opportunity to showcase the skill, innovation, and economic contribution of union sheet metal contractors — and to continue building relationships with state policymakers who understand the importance of responsible construction standards.

Thank you to SMCA Philadelphia Executive Director Peter Jenkins for arranging this important session for our industry.
