British Columbia contractor makes ‘green’ red hot

Mar 11, 2016

When CO Apparel’s facility burned to the ground, a “green” project to recover the waste steam heat suddenly became red hot. With only five months to complete design and construction, DEC Engineering brought in SMACNA British Columbia’s Northwest Sheet Metal Ltd. based in Surry, B.C.

“Our project scope was to supply and install an energy recovery ventilator (ERV) and HVAC system [to use] the steam exhaust from the pressing tables,” said Mark McKee, Northwest Sheet Metal project manager. Northwest also installed 24-inch spiral duct and added high capacity drum louvers to disperse air evenly throughout the work space.
