The U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) is doing a series of webcast on fiduciary responsibilities for retirement and health fund trustees. These webcasts on March 14, 15, and 22 are a great opportunity for newer trustees or trustees in need of a refresher, to receive education at no cost to the trust or the Chapter.
A SMACNA Chapter faces financial liability in the selection, appointment, and monitoring of trustees they appoint. This includes ensuring that your trustees have the knowledge and skills to carry out their responsibilities as trustees. Therefore, SMACNA recommends that you share the “Getting It Right” webcast series information from the EBSA with your trustees and encourage their participation.
