SMACNA contractors actively engaged in hands-on learning about SMACNA’s most prominent standards during SMACNA’s two-day Technical University held in April at the Sheet Metal Contractors Association of Philadelphia and Vicinity’s new chapter headquarters in Warminster, Pennsylvania.
Attendees formed teams to learn about HVAC applications including duct construction, duct leakage, and fire dampers. Teams were challenged to build solutions using duct models that required the application of SMACNA standards and building techniques.
“All the attendees seemed impressed with the program and asked a lot of questions,” noted Jim Shields of SMCA of Philadelphia and Vicinity.
The program was led by SMACNA’s Technical Resources staff including Mark Terzigni, SMACNA director of engineering; Shawn O’Hara, project manager; and Delaine Deer, project manager.
