SMACNA Standard Required in California

The California Energy Commission requires that the installation of air distribution system ducts and plenums comply with SMACNA’s HVAC Duct Construction Standards—Metal & Flexible to meet California Mechanical Code 601.0 to 605.0.

The California Energy Commission’s (CEC) new educational video: “Requirements for Air Distribution System Duct and Plenums” explains that when installing, sealing, and insulating ducts and plenums SMACNA’s HVAC duct construction standard must be followed.
