Lawsuit May Stop Steel Tariffs

Steel Tariffs 250x118The American Institute for International Steel has filed a lawsuit against U.S. Customs and Border Protection banning them from enforcing the 25% tariff increase for imports of steel products imposed by the Trump administration.

They argue that the U.S. Constitution assigns Congress the power to set tariffs and to regulate foreign commerce, not the president. It is anticipated that oral arguments before a three-judge panel will begin before the end of the year. 

One of the key attorneys in the case explained that these steel tariffs have had a devasting effect on their clients, who are importers and distributors of steel products. The tariffs also harm workers at these firms. Learn more...
