SMACNA CEO Vince Sandusky participated in a White House ceremony, along with Stromberg Metal Works President Jerry Robinson and two apprentices, to celebrate the American worker and mark a milestone in President Donald Trump’s Pledge to America’s Workers.
“Our entire industry, from our contractor members and their employees to our labor partners and the crafts persons they represent, and everyone in between, believe in equipping our members with the skills they need to have a successful career in this industry,” said Sandusky.
“Investing in the workforce today means that we support the leaders of tomorrow, and we have an obligation to give those workers their best chance at success.”
SMACNA has a long-term commitment to raising awareness and driving new workforce development initiatives on several fronts through the launch of student chapters, coordinated recruiting efforts with SMART through the Best Practices Task Force, and SMACNA’s continued support of the Helmets to Hard Hats program.
Through its ongoing workforce development initiatives, SMACNA has worked closely with the Construction Employers Association and other labor partners to operate more than 1,100 apprenticeship training centers across the country and invest more than $1.3 billion annually in training programs.
