SMACNA has been working with SMOHIT to develop a variety of training resources on subjects important to contractors, with the intent of making these resources accessible through the SMOHIT website. These training resources are now available for free to industry fund contributing firms on SMOHIT.org. The Training Resources Portal (TRP) of the website now contains three sections for training materials, toolbox talks, and “SMOHIT Learn”.
The training materials section provides videos and related materials on numerous topics including hoisting and rigging, job hazard analysis, and PPE assessment.
The toolbox talks include hardcopy PDF versions on topics such as machines and equipment, material handling, and fire prevention.
The SMOHIT Learn is host to an interactive section of courses (based on videos) that have been developed over several years. Converted from CDs and DVDs, these videos include topics such as respirator safety, working in extreme temperatures, and leading and lagging indicators.
A three-part series of videos on tools and equipment provides quick information on the hazards and precautions related to numerous tools used in the industry. The safety orientation videos were developed for new workers as well as new safety managers to provide insight into safety and health programs for each.
Contractors are encouraged to utilize the website materials to improve safety and health program efforts. To access the website, contractors should contact Randy Krocka, SMOHIT Administrator, at firstname.lastname@example.org to obtain their unique log in information.
