Capitol Hill Update: SMACNA supports energy efficiency bills, Davis-Bacon
SMACNA is working on Capitol Hill to support two bills amending the IRS tax code—to make the energy efficient building deduction permanent and to expense energy efficient HVAC equipment. SMACNA’s legislative efforts are also focused upon increasing funding for overdue airport infrastructure improvements—to meet future capacity demands and create job opportunities.
SPECIAL NOTICE: Crew Cost Method of Wage Equalization – UPDATE
SMACNA and SMART have come to an agreement in principle regarding the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding for Local Areas that Adopt the Crew Cost Method of Wage Equalization. The MOU defines the crew cost methodology for wage equalization and provides implementation and administrative direction.

Reminder: Federal contractors required to provide paid sick leave
Federal contractors need to be prepared to comply with the U.S. Department of Labor’s final rule “Establishing Paid Sick Leave for Federal Contractors.” The rule, established by the Department’s Wage and Hour Division, went into effect for most federal contracts entered into on or after Jan. 1, 2017.
