SmartMarket report: Collaboration reduces risk
Three quarters of building owners and contractors have experienced a dispute or claim in the last three years, and nine in ten say increased collaboration can be used to mitigate future risk, according to a new SmartMarket report “Managing Risk in the Construction Industry” from Dodge Data and Analytics. SMACNA served as a research partner on the report.

The new SMACNA “Materials and Inventory Management Guide” provides member contractors with a resource on purchasing and inventory management systems. Whether simple or complex, these systems are a set of rules for deciding when to purchase materials and services and how much to purchase.

NPF Updates FASB Disclosure Information Sheet
Since 2011, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) has required disclosure of certain information pertaining to an employer’s participation in multiemployer defined benefit pension plans. To assist contractors in complying, many pension plans, including the Sheet Metal Workers’ National Pension Fund (“NPF”) have prepared disclosure statements with their plan’s information.
