A small-business owner, Kim is running for election to the 39th Congressional District. In the primary election in June, Kim led the contest among 17 candidates for the state’s 39th Congressional District. The first Korean-American Republican woman elected to serve in the California State Assembly, Rep. Kim represented the 65th Assembly District, which encompasses parts of northern Orange County, from 2014-2016.

“Ms. Kim was very engaged and inquired about the kind of work we do here and who our customers are,” said Carmen Koo, vice president of Applied Air Conditioning Inc. “I’ve met with Ms. Kim on several occasions and she is interested in industry issues like our qualified trained workers, our JATC program, prevailing wage, and pension reform.”

A member of SMACNA’s Congressional Insiders’ Club and on SMACNA of Southern California’s Legislative Committee, Carmen Koo has been an active campaigner for Young Kim’s candidacy, ensuring a new friend in Congress for the industry if Kim is elected.
