The deadline for filing the 2018 EEO-1 Report is now May 31, 2019, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced recently.
The EEO-1 Report is a compliance survey mandated by federal statute and regulations for all private employers with 100+ employees as well as federal contractors and first-tier subcontractors with 50 or more employees. Employers with contracts of at least $50,000 must complete and file the report annually.
The survey requires categorizing company employment data by race/ethnicity, gender and job category and reporting it to the federal government. Details and instructions for the 2018 EEO-1 Report filers will be available on the EEOC’s website soon.
The data from EEO-1 benefit both the EEOC and the Office of Federal Compliance Programs. The EEOC relies on the data to support civil rights enforcement and to analyze employment patterns, such as the representation of female and minority workers within companies, industries or regions. The OFCCP uses EEO-1 data to determine which companies to select for compliance reviews. OFCCP's system uses statistical assessment of EEO-1 data to select facilities where the likelihood of systematic discrimination is the greatest.
