OSHA hosts National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction

May 02, 2019

StandDown4Safety 600x927The week of May 6-10, 2019 marks the sixth annual National Safety Stand-Down to prevent falls in construction. The event is hosted by OSHA in partnership with many key groups, including the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

A Safety Stand-Down is a voluntary event for employers to focus on safety issues, especially concerning falls from elevation. Members are encouraged to take a break next week to plan a safety activity. These can include hosting a toolbox talk, conducting safety equipment inspections, or talking about job specific hazards. OSHA has published a list of suggestions for a successful event.

Companies who participate can contact with feedback and receive a Certificate of Participation following the Stand-Down.

Contractors are encouraged to post about their activities with the #StandDown4Safety.
