On Monday, August 26, Representative Darin LaHood (R-IL-18) joined Stan Kolbe from SMACNA National and Jessica Newbold from the Illinois Mechanical & Specialty Contractors Association (IMSCA) and several local SMACNA member contractors, chapter executives, and invited industry guests at the Sheet Metal Workers Local 1 Joint Training Center in Morton, Illinois.
At this roundtable event, topics discussed included healthcare reform efforts, multi-employer pension funding issues, infrastructure, energy efficiency tax incentives, the proposal to change apprenticeship standards, and Rep. LaHood’s present thoughts on both state and federal government. LaHood was also given a tour of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 1 Joint Training Center.
