Please know that SMACNA is actively monitoring novel coronavirus (COVID-19) updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). SMACNA will make every effort to proceed with scheduled educational events, but will act based on the best advice of medical professionals and public health authorities.
At this time, there are no federal restrictions in place to prevent meetings and travel within the United States. That said, in the future there could be updates that effect events hosted by SMACNA, events sponsored by SMACNA, and events to which SMACNA staff travels. Given the evolving nature of the coronavirus, SMACNA will follow government guidelines and recommendations about event cancellations and travel restrictions.
We understand the situation is highly complex and that there is no “one size fits all” approach. SMACNA also recognizes that it is perfectly acceptable that each person reacts according to their own comfort levels. Accordingly, registered event attendees will receive a full refund of registration fees should they decide to cancel their attendance based upon COVID-19 concerns.
Obviously, this is a fluid situation that puts us all in new territory. Look for more information in future editions of Member Update as well as Member Alert emails.
