Chicago-Area Executive Receives SMACNA's Chapter Executive of the Year Award

Sep 29, 2015

DMO_0372COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Tony Adolfs, executive director of SMACNA Greater Chicago chapter received the Petersen-Dunn Award as Chapter Executive of the Year at the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association’s (SMACNA) 72nd Annual Convention.

The award is presented annually to the SMACNA chapter executive who has made a substantive contribution to their local association and to SMACNA.

“This year’s executive is the epitome of a well-rounded exec,” announced 2015 SMACNA President Thomas Szymczak. “When SMACNA needs him he’s there… on critical legislative issues, on best practices, convention matters, labor/management opportunities, and more.”

“He was the prime engineer merging two major chapters into the second largest chapter in SMACNA, Szymczak said. “ He worked tirelessly with his contractors to better unify them and coordinate their collective bargaining agreements. During the merger, his members did not miss a beat where delivery of services was concerned. Today, they are even better served as a result of this successful combination.”

Adolf’s service to SMACNA includes membership on the Chapter Executives’ Institute Board. For more than 10 years, the Best Practices Market Expansion Task Force benefitted from his expertise. So did the Council of Chapter Representatives, where he served as chair and vice chair. He’s an active supporter of SMACNA’s College of Fellows Scholarship Fund. In 2003, he received the SMACNA Chapter Executive Legislative Advocate of the Year award, for pursuing the issues of highest priority to SMACNA and his members.

SMACNA, an international trade association representing 3,500 contributing contractor firms, is a leader in promoting quality and excellence in the sheet metal and air conditioning industry. SMACNA has national offices in Chantilly, Va., outside of Washington, D.C., and on Capitol Hill. Visit www.smacna.org.
