Oct 02, 2015

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Gerald Parks, president of Holaday-Parks, Inc., Seattle, Wash., was recognized with the Career Legislative Service Award at the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association’s (SMACNA) 72nd annual convention at The Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs, Colo.

“The Career Legislative Service Award is one of the highest legislative honors a contractor or chapter executive may earn within the organization,” announced 2015 SMACNA President Ron Palmerick, SMAC PAC Committee chair.

“This award recognizes Jerry as a long-standing, dedicated legislative and political leader not only during his term as SMACNA President in the mid-1990s but since entering our industry as a sheet metal contractor decades ago,” Palmerick continued. “Once a contractor member of the Western Washington Chapter of SMACNA, he quickly became involved in our association at every level and has left his mark of achievement on our industry, including serving on a long list of SMACNA committees and as board member, president, and distinguished member of the College of Fellows.

“A high energy, industry activist, Jerry has made it his lifetime‘s work to strengthen his community, his association, and his industry through legislative and political action. He has been a generous supporter of SMACPAC with nearly 30 years of consistent membership in the Congressional Insiders Club (CIC),” Palmerick explained.

“Jerry is a proud SMACNA contractor who before during and after his term as SMACNA President was a frequent visitor to City Hall, the state capital in Olympia, and our nation’s capital to make our case to his elected representatives. He has served the community as well as the local, state, and national association over many decades. Few members have traveled as many miles for SMACNA and our industry to influence government policy on tax, energy, pension and capital formation issues for the better,” Palmerick said.

“He has led by example over many years, and has long inspired those around him to action,” Palmerick added. “Throughout his career, Jerry has remained one of the most outspoken advocates of political involvement and SMACNA’s interests on the most important policy areas.”

SMACNA, an international trade association representing 3,500 contributing contractor firms, is a leader in promoting quality and excellence in the sheet metal and air conditioning industry. SMACNA has national offices in Chantilly, Va., outside of Washington, D.C., and on Capitol Hill. Visit
