Sheet metal & Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association

Canadian Safety Survey Available Online

This is the second year for the SMACNA Safety Excellence Award Program – Canada.  SMACNA has administered this survey/award program in the U.S. for nearly 20 years and last year was the first full year for the Canadian safety survey program.  We received over 20 surveys last year and recognized three Canadian firms for safety excellence.

Please consider submitting a 2017 safety survey to ensure the momentum of the program continues. All information is held as confidential in the SMACNA headquarters.

New this year, Canadian firms can submit an electronic version of the safety survey which is much easier and “user-friendly”.

The purpose of the program is twofold. The program recognizes SMACNA members for their dedication to safety and health, and the data from the survey questions is used to trend significant information related to safety and health in the sheet metal and HVAC industry. SMACNA will start trending this data and provide you with a Canada-specific Safety Profile in the future.

The survey form for 2016 has been revised to reflect questions that are particular to Canada safety and health programs and to identify and recognize companies with outstanding safety excellence. For SMACNA Canadian members, awards will be provided based on a calculation of the number of injury cases in relation to total man hours worked.

The surveys are due May 5, 2017. Mike McCullion, director, safety & health, project manager, market sector councils, is always available to answer any questions you may have. He can be reached at 703-995-4027 or
