Fostering Culture in a Post-Pandemic Office
By now, many people are all “Zoomed out” on remote meetings. Despite their effectiveness in keeping organizations running, plenty of challenges remain for business in 2021.
For starters, fully remote workplaces cannot capitalize on opportunities for collaboration the way in-person workplaces can. Even those workplaces that adopt a hybrid model, operating partially remote and partially in-office, have more opportunity to capitalize on face-to-face interactions and spur-of-the-moment conversations that happen organically when someone stops by your office (wearing a mask and keeping a safe distance, of course).
A lot of office information circulates passively just by being in the office, which means distance can have unwanted consequences. Here are some actions leaders should consider taking to adapt their organizations to the post-COVID-19 workplace.
Get smarter about goal-setting. Make sure everyone is aligned with the No. 1 thing that needs to be accomplished each quarter to move the organization forward.
Get savvier about data. Data points will help you identify weakness and whether something is off track before you fail. Don’t just gather data, make it available to employees so they can help identify areas of improvement and ways to achieve it.
Have actionable goals. Have clear and specific targets for success.
