CDC Report Focuses on Ventilation Improvements Within Schools

Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) examines some of the trends regarding some of the implementation of indoor air quality improvements in school buildings.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) released the latest Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) edition. This edition focuses on the implementation of improving indoor air quality (IAQ) in K-12 schools throughout the country. The data set surveyed over 8,000 public school districts throughout the United States on the scope of projects implemented to improve the quality of indoor air within school infrastructure.

The report highlighted some of the successful strategies districts use, especially in rural parts of the country, to launch projects that complete their objectives of improving indoor air. The report also outlined some challenges in implementing IAQ solutions, including (but not limited to) a need for more awareness of the specifics surrounding indoor air quality. Finally, the findings highlighted that robust federal funding remains to implement solutions.
