Council of Chapter Representatives Meeting Tackles Several Topics

Scottsdale gathering examines subjects such as mental health, indoor air quality, and workforce development.

SMACNA chapter representatives and leaders met in Scottsdale, AZ, for the Council of Chapter Representatives Meeting. This event allows chapter leaders to interact with SMACNA national leaders and dive into some of the critical issues that are ongoing at a local/regional/national level. In addition, the council meeting provides Chapter representatives with a chance to network with their colleagues and build relationships that represent the backbone of SMACNA.

During the event, attendees had an opportunity to hear reports from SMACNA President Tony Kocurek and SMACNA CEO Aaron Hilger. There were also updates from SMACNA’s Labor Relations and Government Affairs teams on upcoming developments that will impact contractors in 2023 and beyond. Presentations on workforce development and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion were also front-and-center during the event.

The group that met in Scottsdale also had the chance to listen to several guest speakers talk on a variety of topics – including how to leverage tax incentives from the recently enacted Inflation Reduction Act, production improvement tools for MEP contractors, and how to safeguard the mental health of workers.

The next Council of Chapter Executives Meeting will be held in Newport, RI, from June 4-6, 2023.
