
Dan Monahan and Rep. Paul Tonko (D-NY)
Dan Monahan, CEO of J.E. Monahan Metals, Inc, and a Member of SMACNA’s Board of Directors, met with Rep. Paul Tonko (D-NY) and his Congressional staff during his recent visit to the Nation’s Capital. The discussion centered around the CHIPS and Science Act, the Infrastructure and Jobs Act, prevailing wages, and registered apprenticeships for both mega projects in Upstate NY and the entire HVAC industry sector. Mr. Tonko was one of the leading voices in the passage of the CHIPS and Science Act and authored many provisions beneficial to the highly skilled construction firms across SMACNA’s membership nationwide. Monahan also attended a business roundtable forum hosted by SMAC PAC in support of Rep. Tonko.
A Member of Congress since 2009, Representative Tonko sits on House Committee on Energy and Commerce where he serves as the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Environment, Manufacturing and Critical Materials and the subcommittee on Energy, Climate and Grid Security as well as the subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. He also serves on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology. In his time in public service, Rep. Tonko has passed countless amendments and bill into law leading to energy efficiency in the public, commercial, industrial, and residential sectors in NY and across the nation.
