A recent expansion of the third floor at the Milwaukee Academy of Science included a special STEM educational lab that features equipment and tools that were generously donated by Milwaukee Tool.
STEM education is the integration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics into a child’s educational curriculum that creates a learning environment in which students investigate and engineer solutions to problems.
“Milwaukee Tool is passionate about STEM education, and we believe empowering and educating the next generation is critical for the outlook of our communities and industry. With our community education outreach, we focus on building skills, confidence, and exposure opportunities through Middle & High School programs that will create a strong foundation for future careers in the Construction Trades and STEM fields.” – Brianne Stewart, Manager of Construction Technology for Milwaukee Tool
As a part of that commitment to STEM education at the Milwaukee Academy of Science, Milwaukee Tool’s generous donation included:
- A monetary donation of $250,000 for the creation of the lab
- Nearly 300 different pieces of equipment and tools, as well as PPE
- Wood and hardware for students’ building projects
Additionally, Milwaukee Tool employees will be coming into the lab periodically to teach woodworking and computer science classes. Milwaukee Tool will also continue to work with the Milwaukee Academy of Science to host tours and trainings at local apprentice schools for students who want to explore a future in the trades, and at the high school level, Milwaukee Tool employees are teaching Computer Science through the Microsoft TEALS program.
