SMACNA’s Advanced Project Managers Institute was held November 13-16, 2022, in Tempe, Arizona. The program welcomed participants from across the country. It was led by industry expert Andrew Patron and SMACNA Board member Kathy Kerber with KSM Metal Fabrication.
Sunday’s kickoff session introduced the participants to the program objectives. It provided a roadmap for the program, starting with the group project’s “hand-off meeting.”
At the start of the program, participants realized hands-on the impact of productivity on profit regarding their group project. Mr. Patron presented on project tracking, financials, and forecasting. Ms. Kerber led a discussion on key performance indicators in project management.
During the program, participants experienced conflict management and negotiation skills to lead their projects better. By the end of the program, participants identified lessons learned and gained many takeaways.
Updates for the 2023 program include a new title, “Senior Project Leadership Institute,” scheduled for May 7-10, 2023. For information on future programs, contact Shelly Dixon at sdixon@smacna.org.
