The High-Performance Buildings Coalition, which includes SMACNA and other industry stakeholders, honored Congressman Peter Welch (D-VT) during a High-Performance Building Week event on Capitol Hill. The coalition, which includes organizations such as the American Chemistry Council, ASHRAE, the International Code Council, and UL, is focused on promoting state-of-the-art building technologies, maintaining U.S. competitiveness, and encouraging the construction of sustainable communities by improving energy and water efficiency.

Congressman Welch was honored for his leadership on these issues, highlighted by his co-chairmanship of the High Performing Building Caucus with Congressman David McKinley (R-WV).

In addition to honoring Congressman Welch, the event provided an opportunity to hear from the Architect of the Capitol regarding renovations to the U.S. Capitol complex. Finally, there was an update on the progress being made by the General Services Administration (GSA) on complying with Executive Order 14057, meant to grow clean energy industries and jobs through federal sustainability efforts.
