SMACNA, SMART and ITI Attend BE4ALL Quarterly Meeting

Current activities of BE4ALL, along with discussions on communications and collaborating with nonprofits, featured in meeting agenda.

Representatives from SMACNA, SMART, and ITI met in Irving, Texas, for the latest quarterly meeting of BE4ALL. Led by Dushaw Hockett, the one-day session reviewed several developments surrounding BE4ALL, as well as some strategic planning exercises on how to get the overall message of BE4ALL out to the members of each organization.

The morning began with a discussion on the state of BE4ALL, including a review of some of the initiative's successes, including the recently released BE4ALL calendar. The BE4ALL subcommittees reported their recent activities and what they will focus on over the coming months.

The afternoon session started with a presentation from Heather Starnes-Longwood, Executive Director of Live In Peace, on collaborating with non-profit organizations. Starnes-Longwood is a frequent collaborator and partner of the Heavy Metal Summer Experience. She used these experiences to outline how union and management actors can collaborate with non-profits on initiatives such as BE4ALL.

Finally, the communications teams from SMACNA and SMART made a joint presentation on their efforts to promote the core message of BE4ALL and how they will work to engage their memberships in the future.
