White House Launches Initiative On Equal Opportunity and Expand Workforce for Megaprojects

Mega Construction Project Program aims to ensure cooperation between private and public sector actors to build the workforce needed for federal construction projects valued at $35 million or more.

The Biden Administration has announced the launch of the Mega Construction Project Program. This initiative aims to bring public and private stakeholders together to build a diverse workforce that can be employed on federal megaprojects.

The Mega Construction Project Program, an initiative from the Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP), will seek to build a more diverse workforce by engaging underrepresented communities.

The program will assist in fulfilling these objectives in a variety of ways. First, during the initial round of projects, OFCCP will collaborate with the General Services Administration and the Department of Transportation to provide on-the-ground assistance to contractors and subcontractors for recruitment. There will also be additional support for outreach and education.

The Department of Labor has launched a website that will provide resources such as a toolbox for stakeholders to answer their questions, along with a live list of eligible megaprojects.

We will continue to monitor and provide you updates on the program as it is implemented.
