SMACNA visited Hermanson earlier this year as they were embarking on a major shop redesign to modernize their equipment and improve shop flow during the fabrication process. The company was started in 1979 and has 700 employees.
In 2017, a team of researchers from the University of Washington evaluated the facility and launched a process to help maximize efficiencies, allowing the company to remain in its current facility and continue to grow and add customer capacity for several more years.
