During the interview, they talk about innovation in the shop, how the business began in a two-car garage, and how they now do a lot of industrial, architectural and sheet metal work. Monahan was interested in learning all he could about laser welding, a technology he’s considering for his shop.
Monahan started as an apprentice in a sheet metal family. He and his dad started their own business in 1989 in their two car garage and grew it to a 25,000 square foot facility with 25 employees. They are doing a lot of work at prisons and schools, and updating the Olympic Development Arena for the upcoming World University Games. Monahan could not emphasize enough the value contractors received from SMACNA during the pandemic and more recently, through all the legislation and funding opportunities.
