Renee Hoffman Awarded 2025 SMACNA Safety Sponsorship

SMACNA is proud to recognize Renee, who will receive up to $5,000 to attend the NSC Safety Congress & Expo, where she plans to bring back new strategies to strengthen safety culture across her team.

SMACNA is proud to announce Renee Hoffman as the recipient of the 2025 SMACNA Safety Sponsorship. As Business Manager at Miller Sheetmetal, Renee has demonstrated a strong, hands-on commitment to safety leadership and team development. Her company, a member of SMACNA - Western Washington, Inc., is known for its deep roots in Bremerton, WA, and its dedication to union craftsmanship, workforce development, and community impact.

This dedication to safety and professional growth is what the Safety Sponsorship, presented in partnership with the BE4ALL initiative, aims to support. The award provides up to $5,000 annually to one safety professional to attend the National Safety Council (NSC) Safety Congress & Expo—the nation’s premier safety event. Renee will join peers from across the country to explore new strategies, innovations, and best practices in workplace safety.

Renee’s application stood out for her team-first approach and deep commitment to continuous improvement. With over 35 years of combined field and management experience, she emphasized the importance of evolving training, systems, and leadership as her company grows. “Safety is more than just following rules—it’s about planning ahead, communicating clearly, and looking out for each other on every job,” she shared. “As our company grows, we want to make sure our systems, training, and leadership grow with it.”

Renee plans to bring back actionable takeaways from the NSC event and apply them directly to the company’s job site planning, pre-task meetings, and team-wide walkthroughs. Her goal is to ensure every employee—from apprentices to journeymen—feels equipped and engaged in daily safety practices. “We plan to take what we learn and put it straight to use,” she said. “Most of all, we want this to help build a stronger culture where safety isn’t just a rule—it’s something everyone is proud to take part in.”

Reflecting on what this opportunity means to her personally and professionally, Renee added: “I'm so grateful to be chosen for the SMACNA Safety Sponsorship. Without this opportunity, I wouldn’t have the chance to attend the NSC Safety Congress & Expo or learn about the latest safety advancements. Safety has always been a top priority in my role at Miller Sheetmetal, and I’m excited to learn new ways to support and strengthen our company’s safety efforts. Thank you to SMACNA and the BE4ALL initiative for making this possible and for encouraging continued learning in our industry.”

SMACNA congratulates Renee on this well-deserved recognition and thanks all applicants who continue to champion safety, learning, and inclusion across the sheet metal industry.
