OSHA Launches ‘Beat the Heat’ Photo Contest

Effort is meant to promote awareness of both indoor and outdoor heat dangers.

OSHA is once again sponsoring the “Beat the Heat” photo contest.

In 2023, OSHA launched a national competition that challenged employers, workers, and others to share their best tools and resources for educating workers about the dangers of heat exposure in indoor and outdoor workplaces.

Open to all industries, the 2024 Beat the Heat competition challenges participants to capture and share images of how they work safely in the heat. The hope is that showcasing images of useful strategies for protecting workers from the heat will encourage others to adopt similar practices.

To participate, submit photos of people adequately protected while exposed to outdoor or indoor heat. Entries will be judged based on the following factors:

  • Quality of photo - Suitability to use in OSHA publications
  • Originality - Clarity of message
  • Creativity - Inclusion of workers, employer, or workplace imagery

Submissions must be received by July 19, 2024.  Visit the OSHA Beat the Heat contest webpage for contest rules and submission instructions.

Winning photographs will be displayed on OSHA’s website and featured in the agency’s QuickTakes and “The Heat Source” newsletters. Winners will also receive a “Beat the Heat” Challenge coin.
