Tara Long is the new Executive Director of Meetings and Convention at SMACNA, bringing more than 15 years of experience in producing high-impact events for audiences ranging from 30 to 30,000 across local, national, and international platforms. She is widely recognized for delivering seamless, strategic event experiences that align with organizational goals and elevate member engagement.
Before joining SMACNA, Tara led the meetings and education portfolio at the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA), where she managed a $2 million budget and successfully executed both in-person and hybrid events. Her expertise spans contract negotiation, site selection, budget management, and cross-functional team leadership.
Tara is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and Digital Event Strategist (DES), known for her innovative approach and adaptability.
With a strong foundation in hospitality from her early career with Hyatt and Hilton, Tara brings a client-focused mindset paired with strategic vision. She thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about creating events that foster connection, innovation, and long-term value.
Tara holds a B.A. in Communications from Western Illinois University and is an active member of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA). She is based in Illinois.
