DOL/Treasury Dept Webinar to be held July 16

Session provides an overview of the key provisions of the final rule implementing the prevailing wage and apprenticeship utilization (PWA) requirements in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA),

The Department of Labor and the Department of Treasury will host a webinar for SMACNA and SMART along with JATCs on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 3:00 – 4:00 pm. DOL and Treasury officials will provide an overview of the critical provisions of the final rule implementing the prevailing wage and apprenticeship utilization (PWA) requirements in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which affords taxpayers who ensure that contractors and subcontractors comply with the IRA’s PWA, a fivefold increase in deductions or credits. The final rules include solid incentives for using project labor agreements on IRA projects and close key loopholes that would have allowed non-union contractors to evade the apprenticeship utilization requirements.

The DOL and Treasury will also cover topics important to compliance, such as recordkeeping and the timing and content of written requests for apprentices. Contractors and chapter executives interested in attending the Zoom webinar can register here.
