Tony Kocurek is SMACNA’s Immediate Past President and Owner of Energy Balance & Integration, LLC in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Kocurek began his career in the sheet metal industry in 1982 as an apprentice at Energy Balance, a company specializing in commercial testing and balancing of HVAC systems, and held various roles within the company before becoming the owner in 2008. His creative thinking and attention to detail have contributed to the company’s success and evolution.

Communication Across the Generations: Generation Everyone

Let’s face it — Baby Boomers (1946-1960), Gen Xers (1960-1980), Millennials (1980-1994) and Gen Z (1994+) require a Communications GPS system for navigating around and avoiding misunderstandings with each other. The session starts with a lighthearted trivia game to see if everyone can identify hip phrases from each generation. This helps everyone open up and get ready for the conversation and activities to follow as we examine perceived communication styles by generation. Delve into and debunk stereotypes.

HVAC Duct Construction App

This app allows you to create table driven solutions using the methods and formulas covered in SMACNA’s HVAC Duct Construction Standard (Metal and Flexible). The app will provide SMACNA compliant options for rectangular duct with dimensions up to 120-inches for applications to ten-inch water gage (positive or negative).

Technical Standards

Technical standards and manuals developed by SMACNA members have worldwide acceptance by the construction and code community, as well as local and national government agencies. ANSI, the American National Standards Institute, has accredited SMACNA as a standards-setting organization. SMACNA standards and manuals address all facets of the sheet metal and HVAC industry – including duct construction and installation, indoor air quality, energy recovery, roofing and architectural sheet metal, welding, and commissioning.
