Laura Johansen

Laura Johansen is the CEO of Johansen Mechanical, Inc. For 37 years, HVAC has been at the center of her family’s life. She and her husband Keith spent 22 of those years as owners of JMI, and more than 20 years as part of the SMACNA community, where Keith served as a member and Board member. Community has always mattered to the Johansen family, from years of volunteering and Board service with the Sky Valley Food Bank to supporting local organizations across King and Snohomish County. 

After a career in accounting and finance, Laura joined JMI following the loss of her husband Keith. She stepped in to continue his journey, keeping JMI’s families at the center of everything the company does and SMACNA as the community they lean on. 

Keith spent his entire career in the industry, yet he believed he had to hide his mental health struggles. Through her work with SMACNA, and in telling Keith’s story, Laura hopes to build a space, step by step, where no one feels they have to choose between their career and their wellbeing, and where mental health becomes something the community fights together rather than alone.
