Paul Klaus

Paul Klaus is the Senior Vice President of icon Mechanical in Granite City, Illinois.  Paul leads a dynamic sheet metal division which employs 3 fabrication shops to perform work in 11 US states with the partnership of 9 SMART Local Unions.  Icon executes every sheet metal project on a foundation of safety, quality, and performance, delivering innovative solutions and lasting success for the client.

Paul's career began after he graduated from the University of Illinois in 1996, where he started as a Sales Engineer with United McGill Corporation. After that, he joined Lyon Sheet Metal Inc. as a Project Engineer, eventually becoming the firm's Executive Vice President during a 26-year career.  Paul is a licensed professional engineer in Missouri and North Carolina.

Locally, Paul has proven to be highly involved with SMACNA St. Louis Chapter, serving as the St. Louis Chapter President in 2021 and various other committees.  Paul also serves on the Southern Illinois Chapter Board. 

Nationally, Paul is engaged with the association in various functions, including the SMACNA National Board of Directors, Mega-Projects Committee, and Industrial Market Sector Council.  He has previously served as the SMACNA Council Chair, SMACNA-IFUS Chair, and Budget/Finance committee member.

Paul outlined his passion for SMACNA by saying, "The continued development of world-class SMACNA programs, maintaining our strong relationship with our SMART labor partners, and the progression of our Sheet Metal Industry as a whole is important to me which I will advocate for at the national level."
