Thomas Montgomery

46 years in the HVAC Industry. Work Experience includes design engineering assistant and commercial HVAC technician while working for MacDonald Miller Seattle 1980-1988. Owner/Partner in MacDonald Miller Alaska 1988-1992 specializing in commercial service and retrofit. Returned to Washington State and started/built the service department for Johansen Mechanical 1992-2000. 

Returned to Macdonald Miller in 2000-2014 as special projects production manager and assisted in building a 60 million dollar per year special projects department. In 2014 accepted a position as the service manager for ACCO Washington State and was tasked with rebuilding a depleted and retracted branch. Rebranded and grew the branch from 5 to 24 technicians before departing in 2022.  

Currently working as the North Region Director for Mesa Energy Systems. Duties include assisting in recruiting for all branches in the north region, training as needed and mentoring new leaders as I transition out of the industry and retire in 2027. 

Teaching experience includes teaching for local 23 Alaska, local 66 in Puget Sound, Central Washington University (off site HVAC courses), Marathon Oil in Cook Inlet Alaska, SMACNA Western Washington and National SMACNA.  

Current executive board member and Past President for SMACNA Western Washington. Retired Management Chair for Western Washington JATC. 

Married 31 years to Rebecca Montgomery. One son, one daughter and one daughter in law 

When not working I enjoy my time in my shop building performance engines, race cars and street rods. I was an active drag racer and ran in the NHRA division 6 circuit for years before taking up street rods and recreational shows and cruises with my wife as we both enjoy the design and build process with our cars at home. We also enjoy traveling and spending time at home with family members, close friends and our spoiled animals.
