Zachary Hensch

Zachary Hensch is the Director of Corporate Health and Safety at VETS Group, where he leads safety strategy and operational support across multiple provinces and industries including construction, commercial HVAC services, manufacturing, and field operations. Recognized as an awardee of Safety Leader of the Year in 2025, Zachary is passionate about helping organizations create workplaces where both physical and psychological safety are valued and supported.

Over the course of his career, Zachary has worked alongside frontline workers, supervisors, and leaders in high-risk industries, gaining firsthand insight into the pressures that can impact mental health and well-being. He believes that strong safety cultures are built on trust, accountability, and open communication, and that conversations about mental health should be treated with the same importance as conversations about physical safety.

Beyond his professional role, Zachary has spent more than 15 years coaching hockey at levels ranging from minor hockey to university athletics. Through coaching, he has seen many of the same challenges that exist in industry, where stigma, expectations, and the pressure to perform can prevent people from asking for help when they need it most. These experiences have reinforced his belief that leadership plays a critical role in creating environments where people feel supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.

Drawing on lessons from both industry and sport, Zachary is committed to advancing workplace cultures that prioritize resilience, personal growth, and mental well-being, helping individuals and teams perform at their best both on and off the job.
