SMACNA Legislative Chair Attends PGA Phoenix Open, Congressional Retreat

SMACNA Legislative Committee Chair and SMAC PAC Committee Member Carmen Koo meets with Representatives Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-OR-5) and Anthony D’Esposito (R-NY-4)during the WM PGA Open Golf Event in Scottsdale, AZ.

SMACNA Legislative Committee Chair and SMAC PAC President’s Club Member Carmen Koo (Applied Air Conditioning, Fullerton, CA) represented SMAC PAC at the WM PGA Open in Scottsdale, AZ. There, she met with Representatives Lori Chavez-DeRemer (D-OR) and Anthony D’Esposito (R-NY-4) to express SMACNA’s appreciation for their support of Davis-Bacon, registered apprenticeship and infrastructure investments boosting the HVAC industry’s project volume. Carmen also discussed the recently passed bipartisan House tax bill, which included bonus depreciation, equipment expensing, and R&D incentives, as well as other critical issues facing SMACNA members.

Before coming to Congress in 2022, Chavez-DeRemer served as the Mayor of Happy Valley, OR.

She currently serves on three committees: the House Committee on Agriculture, the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. During her first term in Congress, Chavez-DeRemer quickly became an industry champion for contractor tax incentives, building infrastructure, registered apprenticeship programs, prevailing wage reform, and enhanced enforcement.
