Partners in Progress Conference Attendees Raise Over $20,000 for Charity

SMACNA/SMART partnership benefits Second Harvest Food Bank, highlighting dual emphasis on labor/management collaboration and social responsibility.

The 2024 Partners in Progress Conference not only served as a venue for discussions on labor and management partnerships but also became a platform for meaningful community support. Attendees collectively raised $20,941 for Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, showcasing the event’s commitment to making a tangible difference in the local community.

Second Harvest Food Bank is pivotal in the fight against hunger in Central Florida, operating across six counties: Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Volusia, and Marion. As a nonprofit, it coordinates with over 625 feeding partners to distribute food to those in need, including food pantries, soup kitchens, women’s shelters, senior centers, daycare centers, and programs for children. Last year, it was instrumental in distributing enough food for 81 million meals.

This act of generosity from conference participants is a reminder of how community-focused initiatives can benefit from the support of collective groups, reinforcing the value of working together towards common goals. As Second Harvest Food Bank continues its efforts, the contribution from the 2024 Partners in Progress Conference is a step forward in the ongoing fight against hunger in Central Florida, illustrating the impact of community and compassion in action.
