New Horizons Foundation awarded additional research funding from Stanley Black & Decker.

Foundation receives a third grant from program designed to promote non-profits active in supporting workforce development in the skilled trades and manufacturing.

The New Horizons Foundation has received additional funding as a Makers Grant recipient courtesy of Stanley Black & Decker’s Global Impact Challenge. Continuing its multi-year commitment, the Global Impact Challenge program will award over $25 million in grant funding to non-profits supporting workforce development efforts in the skilled trades and manufacturing sectors. Applicants were evaluated on many criteria, including the number of individuals served, projected outcomes, long-term impact, and program offerings and depth.

“The New Horizons Foundation is grateful for this continuing support from Stanley Black & Decker’s Global Impact Challenge in advancing best practices in workforce development,” stated Tom Soles, Executive Director of NHF.

This latest round of funding will help support the following objectives:

  • Curate the captured content from Workforce Development Organizations (WDOs) into concise infographics
  • Focus on leadership development for trade and non-trade hires and produce short multi-media products to showcase successful practices (mentoring, shadowing, and onboarding).
  • Continue industry presentations on project findings and continue to expand successful WDO contacts and relationships
  • Develop a WDO media site on the NHF website and continue work to improve its search engine presence and functionality of the NHF website, particularly regarding workforce development issues and interests.
