Reminder: Real ID Deadline Approaching Soon!

Beginning May 7, 2025, the federal government will require you to present a REAL ID compliant driver's license or ID card, or another federally approved form of ID, to board a domestic flight.

The REAL ID ActWith the 2025 SMACNA Annual Convention fast approaching, now is a good time to remind those who are planning to attend our flagship event in Maui that soon, a REAL ID compliant drivers license will be required to board any U.S. domestic flight.

A REAL ID is an optional, upgraded version of your driver’s license or ID card that has a star in the right corner.

Beginning May 7, 2025, the federal government will require you to present a REAL ID compliant driver's license or ID card, or another federally approved form of ID, to board a domestic flight or enter a secure federal facility or military base (some military bases may already require REAL ID or a federally approved form of ID).

If you do not currently possess a REAL ID (non-compliant documents will have the words “federal limits apply” in the right-hand corner) you will need to go to your local DMV or equivalent to apply for a REAL ID and bring the appropriate documentation during the application process.
