The first entry, focused on normalizing critical conversations about mental health and suicide, and the positive impact about how being open can have.

September is Suicide Prevention Month, an important opportunity for the construction industry to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind workers that help is available. Throughout the month, SMACNA will share a series of toolbox talks and resources from SMACNA and our industry partners, including CPWR, the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention (CIASP), and SMOHIT. We are also proud to support CIASP’s 5K initiative as we work together to promote mental health, suicide prevention, and a culture where looking out for one another is part of working safely.
The first Toolbox Talk focuses on having the tough conversations about suicide and mental health and how building a workplace that encourages these conversations can be a net-positive and build an atmosphere where everyone feels that their teammate will have their back.
