Proposed draft of a new regulation under final review by the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s has drafted a proposed rule that is meant to protect workers from excessive heat is currently under review by the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA). A final review by OIRA is regarded as one of the final steps in creating a proposed rule, however, there is no firm timetable on when the White House will complete its review of the proposed rule.
During this period, OSHA can cite employers under the General Duty Clause under certain circumstances, and the agency is continuing its National Emphasis Program focusing on heat-related hazards.
