New Chapter Executives Arrive at SMACNA National for Training

The Annual Chapter Executives Orientation gives new leaders an opportunity to engage with SMACNA staff and better understand the national-level resources that are at their disposal.

The newest SMACNA Chapter Executives descended upon SMACNA National for the annual Chapter Executives Orientation. This session is an opportunity for these new leaders to learn more about the workings of SMACNA at the national level and better understand some of the resources available to chapters and their members. The Chapter Executives in attendance were Laura Sayer (Brantford/Hamilton/Niagara Ontario), Susan Miller (St. Louis, MO), Megan Pope and Kathleen Unger (Miami Valley & Cincinnati, OH), Tony Morganelli (Ontario), Darlene Schiffli (Tulsa, OK), and Stacey Smyly, (Kansas City, MO).

During the orientation, the executives in attendance got an outline of SMACNA’s structure from CEO Aaron Hilger. This was followed by presentations by the SMACNA departments detailing their significant functions and role in supporting all of SMACNA’s chapters. In addition to this, the group participated in Accelerate Your Impact (AYI) sessions addressing topics such as contractor education, peer groups, event planning, and the Rapid Response Protocol. The Chapter Executives also participated in SMACNA’s Bias and Belonging training in Chantilly. Finally, the attendees had a chance to listen to presentations from several of SMACNA’s partners in the industry, including the International Training Institute (ITI), the Sheet Metal Occupational Health Trust (SMOHIT), and the National Energy Management Institute (NEMI).
