Senator Ron Wyden visits with SMACNA President Carol Duncan at General Sheet Metal

Senate Finance Committee Chairman and Senior Senator from Oregon tours SMACNA contractor facilities and meets with the GSM team to discuss equipment and IRA tax incentives.   

Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) discussed his sponsorship of various equipment tax incentives and a number of the industry’s high priority IRA tax policies while touring the Clackamas, OR-based SMACNA contractor, General Sheet Metal. The Senator visited with several members of the GSM team, led by SMACNA President and General Sheet Metal CEO Carol Duncan.  During his tour, Senator Wyden heard first-hand the value of many of his authored tax incentives, now law. A focus of the visit was to hear how many of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) provisions have stimulated the construction industry in both Oregon and nationally. He also learned about the highly skilled work being done at General Sheet Metal by current and former registered apprenticeship program (RAP) graduates now completing many incredible projects that the company in the Portland area.  

In addition to learning about some of the current projects, Duncan and her company leadership shared GSM's 90-year history, from its founding to it recently becoming a 100% employee-owned business.
