SMOHIT Welcomes New Trustees, Says Goodbye to Two Longstanding Board Members

SMOHIT has welcomed Wayne Greenwood and Jon Alvino as new trustees, replacing Kevin Jones and Chris Hall.

SMOHIT is pleased to welcome Wayne Greenwood and Jon Alvino as new trustees. They are taking over for Kevin Jones, who served on the board for 12 years, and Chris Hall, who served for about 10 years. Matt Hildreth and Danny Villarruel, both current trustees, are now serving as co-chairs.

Greenwood got his start in the trade thanks to his father, a Teamster at a sheet metal company. He began working as a laborer in 1988 and referred to himself as an 'aspiring' apprentice. In 2005, he started JEC Service Company, named after his three children, and recently marked 20 years of employing sheet metal workers in Boston. Greenwood has also served on the national board of SMACNA and later became a trustee and advisor for a NEMI committee.

Alvino serves as business manager and labor trustee at SMART Local 9 in Denver. He started working in sheet metal in his late 30s, beginning as an apprentice in 2011. By 2017, he became a business representative, and in 2021, he was elected business manager. Alvino was the first in his family to join the trade and was surprised to earn more as a third-year apprentice than he did after ten years in telecom. Now, his son is also following in his footsteps and is more than halfway through his apprenticeship.
